This was half the price of what others were selling the same device for, but I gambled and bought it anyway. It was in pristine, new condition and works like a charm. I wish I had bought one years ago./

I hope to update this in a few months. Mounted on pole about 8' off ground 100' in front of house. Havent calibrated the rain gauge but seems fairly accurate right now as we got some rain already, temps in and outside are right on. It says it takes about 2 weeks to "learn your weather" but the ticker is reading pretty good now too. Dont feel the need to hook this up to PC. Durability is at 4stars now , will bump to 5 after 6-9months of use, if it holds up.

Weather station works exactly as advertised. Interface to network requires computer, or... Acurite 09150 smarthub. (or other Bluetooth network interface) I purchased Acurite 09150 smarthub because it is advertised and designed to interface. Great System. I mounted my weather station on a mast about 14 foot tall extending about 4 feet above a tool shed roof using 3/4" galvanized pipe concreted into the ground and attached to the eave of the building at a remote location with internet access The desktop display is wirelessly connected and easy to read inside the building with all the information clear to see.. This is fine when I am near my weather station. I most often monitor this weather station at a remote location approximately 90 miles away through the network interface. Instant weather conditions available through my smartphone or computer with 3 minute interval reports. I see conditions such as wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, precipitation, dew point, temperature by phone or computer. I see graphing trends in the same manner for Today, 24 hour, 31 day, Year, All Time recorded, or Custom. To see conditions through my phone and computer, I purchased the AcuRite 09150 smarthub and interfaced it directly to my router using standard network CAT5 cabling. This weather station when purchased with smarthub is a great tool for monitoring current or trending conditions at home or remotely. I am very pleased. No knowledge of other systems, I would recommend this system because it works perfectly for my needs. Lower cost equipment might be available, it may work as well, but this is a quality weather station that works.

I did not get mine from Amazon. I purchased direct from AcuRite for the same price+shipping. They also threw in the bridge ($40 extra on Amazon), which is needed to be able to see your weather on an internet website. So far, after two weeks, I love it. Although there are some design deficiencies which may limit the lifespan. Radio transmission is good and strong with my unit. It's about 100ft, as the crow flies, from the bridge and the display unit. It is also separated by a couple walls. Signal strength is good on both units, and data is transmitted without a problem. When selecting your location, be sure to insert the four AA batteries and then take the 5-in-1 out to the location and verify that it is communicating with your display console, before placing your permanent mounting post. It comes with a couple mounting options. I chose the one that mounts to a flat surface, or a post (at least 4in wide). I got a 10ft 4x4 at HD, and planted it in a hole 2ft deep, filled with QuickCrete. Plumbed and leveled the post, let it set for a day, then mounted the 5-in-1 at the top. Tools and supplies you will need to mount the unit to the post are basically a ladder, a phillips screw driver, a carpenter's level, and a compass. There is a plastic strip inserted to protect the rain gauge mechanism during shipment. Do not remove that until the 5-in-1 is secured to the mount on the post, but don't forget to remove it when you are finished installation. Also, use a ladder that is tall enough for you to look down on the 5-in-1. So that you can watch the leveling bubble in the top of the unit, and make sure it's centered when you lock it down. Also prior to locking it down, using your compass, line up the unit north-south according to the needle, with the solar panel facing south. The leveling bubble will be centered, the solar panel will be facing south, and the unit will be aligned north-south when you tighten the locking/mounting screws. Once the 5-in-1 is mounted and secured then you are finished. Remove the shipping strip from the bottom of the unit, and your weather station will be fully operational. -------------------- UPDATE (2/18/2015): This little weather station is still going strong. It's operating on the same, original batteries, and signal is still strong to the base station and bridge. The mounting pole has warped a little bit. So will have to re-align the station when winter is over. However, it still reports accurate wind speed/direction, and reports temps. The rain gauge was amazing last summer. Reported rain fall in real time (i.e. as it was raining), and the online connection maintains a running log of rain totals day to day. My only compliant is that daytime temps consistently read about 5 degrees high. There is supposed to be a little fan that blows air across the temperature sensor, so that direct solar heating of the chassis does not affect the reading. Unfortunately, either the fan stopped working, or it simply doesn't do the job. If I place the unit in shade, then the solar panel won't get enough light, and rain totals might be incorrect. Temp readings are accurate during the night, on cloudy days, and at times when the Sun is not shining directly on it. The website is also a nice feature. I can check the weather station online from anywhere. It also linked up nicely to Weather Underground.

Easy to use and set up. Just make sure you allow time for the outside unit to pair with inside unit. The signal bars will flash till its paired. When signal. Bars are solid then you can install outside unit and place inside unit if you want different location. Then it does its thang! One of the features I love is the rain gage. It will show rain for the day, the monthly total, and the year.

This station is well constructed and comes with directions that make its set up easy. We live in the pacific northwest and who would have guessed we love seeing the rainfall totals over our house here in the Cascade foothills. The wind speed is as accurate as my Weather Channel app on my phone. The read-out screen is vivid and gives you several options as to what you want to see as a main page. We have trees around the house so the only good place to put it was up on the eve pitch of the roof. It's inconspicuous but one person did notice it....after a moment pointed up to it and said....."What's that? You guys have satelite security on your house now?" We just winked.....hummm, maybe thats a good thing?

I really like my new personal weather station. Was very easy to install, but had a little trouble getting it to stream on Wunderground. I guess it takes a couple of days to get everything online activated. You have to first create an account with Acu-rite.com (My Backyard Weather) and then you have to create an account with Weather Underground. Weather Underground will give you a station ID number. Once your Acu-rite (My Backyard Weather) is reporting, you click on the red arrow next to your email address in the upper right-hand corner, then click on "Share My Bridge". You should get a box asking you for your weather station ID from Wunderground and your password. This should start the streaming to Wunderground. Have fun!

Was easy to setup. Added raspberry pi with weewx for online use to update weather services. Has a strong signal into the house with the indoor base station about 100 feet away. I put weather station on top a separate garage from the house about 20 feet in the air. It’s been running strong for about 3 weeks so far. Was a good price and so far a very good deal. Also bought the separate battery pack with 33 feet extension so I don’t have to change the batteries 20 feet in the air. Thanks Acurite for good product I always wanted a good weather station.

The sensor has to be in the sun for the wireless to work. I was trying to get the link up from inside after changing batteries. No luck. As soon as I put it in the sun, a motor started running and the link established. All reading look good. Changing my rating. I really like this weather station. I use it every day. But after 2 years it completely died. I replaced the batteries in the sensor in March 2018 as I do annually. In Sept.18 it died and didn't recover with fresh batteries. No wireless signal. I used rechargeable AA batteries this time and I will go to alkaline to see if that helps but I doubt it. The last alkaline batteries only lasted 6 months when the wireless died.

We got this gift for my husband and our whole family is enjoying checking the weather every morning. It is cool to see all the different aspects of daily weather. The weather station was easy to install (we bought a pole to put it outside with).
